Let Your Children Build a Solar Power Supply for Science Fair by Carl Ackerman
Today, solar panels come in all shapes and sizes. Among other things, you can buy a solar power supply that is small enough to fit in a backpack. Without a question, if you already use a laptop on a regular basis, these solar power kits will be perfect for every day use. That said, why pay hundreds of dollars for a solar power supply when you can make your own for a fraction of the cost?
Interestingly enough, there are all kinds of resources available to help you build your own solar power supply. For example, you can obtain blueprints for solar panels, as well as a good bit of information on the materials that are used to convert heat and light into electrical energy. Regardless of whether or not you decide to build a mini-solar panel, at least you will know how to go about it.
Are your children stumbling around to try and come up with a good science fair project? Why not let them build a mini solar power generator? They may even enjoy expanding their efforts by obtaining and making use of recycled materials. For example, they may want to join a free cycle group, or see what items can be used from around the house. Without a question, there is nothing greener than a science fair project that makes use of two eco-friendly fields of knowledge to produce something useful.
There is no question that you will also enjoy joining forums that are dedicated to harnessing solar energy. In particular, you will be able to communicate with others that are looking to get rid of their reliance on commercial energy. At the very least, when you come across obstacles or setbacks, there will always be someone there to help you move forward again. As may be expected, when you are becoming more responsible for your energy needs, this kind of peer support is very important to have.

Here Come The 123s [CD/DVD] $8.43 They Might Be Giants are like the handful of best-selling authors who also happen to be doctors or astrophysicists: They do two things so well–in their case kids’ music and grown-up music–that it seems a little unfair, like the talent scale has been tipped too hard in their favor. Like Here Come the 123s, the follow-up to 2005’s Here Come the ABCs, and TMBG’s third kids’ record. Here the Johns–… |

American Science & Surplus Red Laser Pointer With Case and Batteries $2.80 Tootin’ Our Laser We don’t like to brag, but it’s tough not to in a case like this. This is a wonderful pen-shaped laser pointer, 5-1/4″ long, flat black or silver with gold pocket clip and head. It throws a red point a loong way (we’ve thrown it two city blocks at night, and it would’ve gone farther, but buildings got in the way). And what are we so proud of? We’ve seen a very similar item-not id… |
